Popoy and Basha

This is the story of two kittens, Popoy from the south and Basha of the northern borders. Fate has brought them together and this is their story so far..

The one on the left is Popoy, at three months, he was already as big as an adult cat and from what I've heard, his growth isn't stopping anytime soon. Basha on the other hand is the smallest of four siblings. She's a month younger than Popoy. As I am writing this, she's three months old but nowhere near the size of her male counterpart.

Although Popoy looks intimidating, he is one affectionate kitty. He likes being picked up and likes sleeping on laps. He also is neat on everything even sweeping spilt kitty litter with his paws. He takes care of his own mane keeping it fluffy. He's quite an ideal cat. Basha on the other hand, may seem timid but looks can be deceiving. She causes mischief whenever she's awake. Always looking up and finding ways to climb on any towering cabinets and sometimes windows. She's got quite a hobby and an ambition. She is not as obedient as Popoy and has the attitude of a spoiled princess. They may be opposites but they both agree on one thing: Sleeping all day and playing all night. How long can they keep this up?.. We'll just have to find out. Anyway, here are some of their captured moments:

Poy being a noble pet and Bash being cute

Basha likes running outside

Popoy contented with just dreaming of the outdoors.

Maybe Popoy likes sleeping more than Bash

Bash likes the attention more.

but they'll both sleep anywhere. On the floor..
or on the bed.

They also like sleeping on their backs.

Here's Popoy finally awake.

And here are the rest..

My girl with Basha

..And this is NOW

..And then I opened my eyes from forever's rest
upon seeing the skies I felt like doing my best.
The faint glow of the sun's enough for making me run
All day from the dawn up until I am done..

One by one.. a silent song is subtly sung
on-and-on they slowly gather.. the old and the young
preparing the voyage without bearing no baggage
they've got a world to pillage, and just a little time to manage.

Because yesterday was totally clear of such dismay,
but I'd rather be here and now, soaking the early rays.
And as the time progresses and unravels into the day
No clouds would be grey and none would go astray.

Gentle warmth apperceived as I tread the cool street
Pleasant gleam worn on faces of every citizen I meet.
When I awoke, there's you.. we're together, we're complete,
From my perspective your visage really knocks me off my feet.

And now I am positive.. I most certainly can fly.
Because once I stretch my arms I won't ever ever lie.
Never fall from the heavens, never ever will I die,
Gonna pull back the curtains, prepared to meet tomorrow's sky.

iPod App Review: Pound for Pound

Synonymous to the words Pound for Pound is the name Manny Pacquiao. No. This is not another boxing game. This game revolves around Manny in a fictional setting. He fights his way through henchman after henchman in one on one battles. At stake is the life of his friend held by thugs desperately forcing Manny to sign some contract. But the Pacman knows better, So he uses not only his fists, but  you'll see him kick butt as well.

Aside from the gameplay, this game reminds me of another iPod game I really enjoyed, which is Bruce Lee: Dragon warrior. The 3D graphics are great. Characters are well rendered. Manny in the game resembles the real thing.

The animation and the moves are fluid. It controls a bit like Infinity Blade and Blood and Glory where you swipe and dodge enemy attacks. It was better than what I expected, I just hoped that there were more oponents to fight and different modes to play with because it kinda gets repetetive after a while. The costumes in the store aren't that diverse either, they only vary in colors. Nonetheless, this game provided hours of fun though it also took just a few hours to finish.

iPod App Review: Army of Darkness

Based on 1993 film of the same name, this defense game stars the chainsaw wielding Ash Williams. You guide Ash and fight the evil deadites in order to protect the castle that is home to the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, the book of the dead. The horde is too many for just one Ash, luckily, some of the memorable characters from the movie (Lord Arthur and Duke Henry to name a few) are there to aid you, along with some infantry units and archers you can summon. Killing deadites has its rewards, you can earn gold and buy upgrades for the castle and your units.

I wanted everyone to realize all the wonderful things that the emperor's council have done, the decisions they have made, especially the newly implemented decree. How well it was thought of and how it would positively affect the land.
But the truth is.. Nobody is stupid enough to believe such things.

The truth is, their naivety just made them the laughing stock and the center of annoyance not only here, but beyond the seas as well. The truth is, no good can come of this and could escalate from mere criticisms all the way to rebellion since people can only express themselves secretly. The truth is, the new commandment is flawed, it can be used to protect (more of) the authorities' own personal interests rather than the public's. The truth is, we cannot be controlled by this and we can go on expressing ourselves in anyway we can because it is our birthright as freemen. I love my land and most of my countrymen. I hate to see brave and honest people suffer for seeing through the king's new clothes.

iPod App Review: Space Miner: Space Ore Bust

With all the complex video games we have today, I never would have thought that I'd enjoy retro gameplay in this day and age. Venan Enertainment, Inc.'s Space miner: Space Ore Bust is basically Asteroids with a storyline, and a solid one at that. You play a young rookie asteroid miner. Your uncle accidentally signs his mine field to this greedy entrepreneur who loaned him money. In order to save it, you must drive your space truck and do some errands in the field, mine some space ores while you're at it. Ores are converted to cash at the end of missions and you use that money to buy upgrades for your ship.

App Review: Spirits

A cross between Lemmings and Fantasia, You command a handful earth spirits through different stages filled with obstacles. You will do this all the way to their destination: the portal home (or what I'm assuming is their portal home). Like in Lemmings, all spirits have abilities that can come in handy in given situations . They can become clouds and blow winds, or become plants for others to climb on and they can even dig through ground. The music suits the surreal environment of game and the spirits are as adorable as kittens.

The screenshots below seem to be of poor quality, but I promise you, the actual game is far from looking like it was taken by a digital camera.

Images are from iTunes Store

Are We Ready for an All Out Alien War?

Knowing that we are not alone in the universe or worse, knowing that mankind won't be running the show for long, could shake the very foundation of our beliefs. We all worship the creator but when objects not of this world begin to swoop the skies (a humbling sight but seems more terrifying than divine), we would then need to re-evaluate: If God created the universe, then all beings would surely pay homage to Him as we do. They should be in His likeness as we are to Him.. and if not, then everything we believe in as well as all the values passed down to us would mean crap. Faith is what we have been holding on to since the recorded history began, especially in those times of desperation. If those flying things aren't angels then we best prepare for something other than the second coming. This could explain the government cover-ups. They are basically saying "You are not ready for this kind of knowledge". This prevents people from questioning the chaos that would soon follow.

From what they have achieved so far, these beings are definitely not mere creatures. They are highly intelligent, possibly highly evolved or at least more technologically advanced than we are since traveling to another world is a quite a feat. For all we know, they might have been here a long time ago.

The authorities most likely know something but most are still unsure if these invaders are peaceful. They could be the ones manipulating the government with the cover-ups and all. They could also be planning something on a grander scale. Go public officially perhaps, or a hostile takeover that could endanger the human species' existence.

How would our weapons fare with theirs then? Let's just say, they didn't come all the way here by accident and we have to assume that they have been preparing. There may or may not be just one race that threatens us and treachery could play a key role to our downfall. They could just cut the power off every fighter planes or rockets we have if they're that smart. With that in mind, we're already as good as extinct. Of course I'm still hoping that I'm wrong to have underestimated power of the human race.

Below is  a video I found on Youtube: a media coverage compilation regarding UFOs appearing to the public. An eerie call to a radio show that talks about the things to come is in there too. It was later dismissed by the very caller and apologized to the host about the prank he pulled earlier. Real or not, it still doesn't explain the sudden interruption that cut the call.

Genesis and Revelation

Chapter 1: Dawn

Planet Earth: a long long time ago, long before the civilizations, a mysterious planet that passes approximately every 3 millennia was right on schedule. The planet is called Nibiru. Their inhabitants, the Annunaki are dubbed as the watchers of worlds, but this time, they thought that this blue planet is ripe for divine intervention.

Our young planet was already filled with people, more apes than man, the Annunaki High Command, thought that these creatures can be something more. They then rode their vessels and came down from the heavens and took a handful on board. They studied these hapless beings, hairy looking things. They were then genetically modified to resemble the likeness of the Annunaki race. Introducing the ape genes with their own. There were mixed results.

None of them were the exact likeness but, still, were close enough and to be called perfect beings. The Annunaki were large in stature, with ten feet tall as the least. With the new race they engineered, for humans to appear rather smaller than these visitors was intentional. The first one they made was called Adam. He was placed in this perfect environment they set up and named it Eden. It was protected by an invisible field built to shelter Adam from stray beasts and cruel weather. To accompany Adam the Annunaki made Eve, a female they favored to co-exist with the male. The rest of the experiments were scattered all over the world just to find out how they will strive to survive.

Time was up for the Annunaki, Nibiru was drifting farther away from Earth. It won't be back for another 3,000 Years.

Chapter 2: Noon

Nibiru Returns, humans seem to develop at speeds alarming their maker. The race is already independent and have even surpassed the Annunaki's expectations. Men are already communicating in a systematic language and the daughters of men became these very beautiful creatures. So beautiful that some of the Annunaki can't help but break oath and bear child with them. They were then banished or hunted down. Cross breeding without  proper gene splicing could mean altering the whole physiology of both races' offspring. The result: giants. Which are grounds for termination.

Hidden for a long time, these giants, or Nephilim, appeared when the Nibiru was long gone. They lived longer than humans and they were worshiped as gods. More and more of these Nephilim began to appear and they eventually overran the planet. Everywhere they went, people regarded them as gods from ancient Greece, Egypt, parts of Europe and Americas.

The surviving Annunaki, however, made planet Earth their adoptive home. Nations such as Babylon were taught the Annunaki ways and one of the earliest laws implemented as well as the earliest writings and architecture.

The Annunaki High Commander, upon learning this, was anything but happy. Upon their return to Earth, an order was made: The Purge. The watchers gathered two of every creature known and hid them in one of the vessels along with several people that will serve as stewards after the event.
At the very hour of the purging, the skies became as dark as a starless night. Winds so strong it slashed trees and smashed rocks. It was the wrath of the Annunaki, with advanced weaponry that manipulated the atmosphere. The world was flooded for 40 days. The vessel with all life in it was all that lived.. or so the Annunaki thought.

It was later that the watchers learned of the few surviving Nephilim. They are bound to return for another purging, and next time, with fire.

Chapter 3: Twilight

3000 years later: the last living Annunaki on Earth has long been gone, but not before passing the knowledge concerning the second purging through means of telepathy. Most of the inhabitants of Earth have already forgotten  about their creator and only thought of them as things of legend. But as fate would have it, the Annunaki have returned.

Upon their entry, sounds of thunder echoed throughout the world and the skies began to burn and open up. Twenty-four massive ships appeared in major cities. The size of their vessel almost destroyed the layers of the atmosphere. Nearby mountains began to glow orange due to the heat of the massive thrusters. Everything's now in place. As the skies clear of the fire, everyone can see their homeworld. An overwhelming sight but equally terrifying. Everything was silent.

Surrounding the world were orbiting pods. Seven in all, they house weapons threatened to be released until the treacherous Nephilim surface. So they did, but not before a loud thunderous noise that seem to break the pods one by one. Out came gigantic warriors in which four of them rode an animal. They tower over cities destroying, searching. The other pods had armies of ethereal Annunaki trying to redeem themselves.  After the sixth was broken. The familiar darkness that had once shrouded the world have returned.

The ground shook, the sea began to sink and revealed a huge sinkhole. Out came this battle cruiser with three cannons on each side and one main cannon in front. Meanwhile,on a nearby land, one Nephilim finally came out of hiding telling everyone not to worry for the battle cruiser will save them all. The giants wasn't planning on taking it lying down after all. What started to unfold before everyone's eyes was no judgement day. It is a war and mankind is just collateral damage.

Evolution.. So Far

Millions of years ago, man's existence was nowhere near a possibility.. or was it? We all know that everything came from something. We (people) might have lived as lesser species. Primitive creatures, but driven by ambitions of trying to better ourselves. Surviving the harshest of conditions and critical extinction level events. We could have been plants or insects but it just so happened that the supreme creature that we are now is of mammal descent.

How we came to be is still a mystery. If only birds had a separate set arms instead of just having wings, they could have been triumphant with their flight advantage as well as developing the proper usage of tools. If reptiles gained bigger brains, they could have lorded over the world as the ultimate predator, tough as nails and feared by all. They could have survived the "Great Dying". But then, here we are, with flesh so fragile, teeth so blunt, no sharp claws and no wings. We became civilized, social and organized.

We grew five fingers each hand why not four? Math could have been a whole lot different with us counting eights as tens. We walk on two legs instead of four, like a common quadropod. Sports histories may have been altered and wars could have been fought differently. But still, five fingers and walking upright reign supreme.

Apes, on the other hand, distant relatives of ours, we have to wonder, why settle for being apes? They have the same attributes as we do. They seem to have the strength to overpower us if they chose to. Instead, they wanted to dwell peacefully in the jungle as this intimidating community.

Humans obviously took the top spot since we are the most perfectly sized versatile creatures. We can handle tasks that are as delicate as sewing on clothes and building shelters so intricate and we also can do heavy work such as leveling mountains and building roads. Eventhough creatures as organized as ants could have ruled, they are still too tiny to handle fire. And as clever as dolphins are, they are still limited to exploring only the waters. As wise as elephants are, they are still too slow and clumsy to overthrow the human race. But we, we can walk in any weather condition without the fear of drowning in the rain or withering in the heat. We are also light enough to climb ladders and heavy enough to resist being blown by the wind. We are just perfect.

Jellyfish: After 500 million years, still are jellyfish - with organs not as complex as ours but it works out fine anyway

End of Summer Tour: Apo Reef

"Apo Reef is the second largest contiguous coral reef in the world and the largest one in the Philippines."( That sentence alone would make you want to see it for yourself, but as wise robots would put it: "There's more to it than meets the eye."

To give you an idea, here are some photos taken during our adventure:

The trip was about 8-11 hours from manila. 3 hour bus ride to Batangas Pier. 3 hour Roro Ferry ride to Mindoro. 3 hours of the same bus (rode the boat as well) to Sablayan then finally 2 hours by motor boat to the island(less if the current is in your favor). Local boatmen, who also acted as our guide, gave us tour of the island. They are the ones in the first of the series of photos above.

We arrived on a clear sunny day, but not without traces of the recent typhoon that just hit the day before. Luckily for us, we only experienced strong waves from the normally calm waters of the beach.

I was with friends, old and new. The love of my life was also there with me. She's in one of the photos above. It was her second time in the place and was the one who made me want to see what she have seen.

At sunset, when the tides are low, you will find corals protruding from the waters and at dawn, tracks of turtles who just laid eggs.

The sands were fine. There was nothing like it.

The weather was perfect. The storm aftermath brought interesting cloud formations.

Our camp was under the shade of trees. That spot also serves as the island's communal area where we held our nightly gatherings.

We had no trouble finding places for our tents.

The island ran on solar energy but if that fails, this very hut houses.. a generator.

We basically had the island to ourselves for three days. The other group was composed of divers whom we rarely interact with but crossed paths when we were snorkeling above them while they were about 50 feet below. They looked really cool with full gear underwater. Unfortunately, i've no photos of them for the camera ran out batteries before we got to them. Anyway, here are some underwater shots (mostly from a friend's camera).

It was calm above the water..

..and chaos underneath!

Well.. not really. It was filled with serenity.

It was a haven for the strangest of life forms.

Where the  small can thrive on its own..

..And the most vulnerable exist.

It was a world on its own.

The ocean.. so vast and blue..

..sometimes green.. or yellow

and rarely.. white

..and in extreme cases.. brainy.

After that fulfilling underwater adventure, everyone enjoyed the boat ride back to the camp.

As beautiful as the days were, I wish I could also show you the nights. We were blanketed by millions of stars. The moon, as bright as ever and the ocean waves, the perfect ambient sound. No photo will ever show the whole experience I just described. But here are some photos taken from the other side of the island.. the darker side.

The island also has its share of hauntings. There are areas with building ruins like that on the photo above. It was said that they were built in the 1900's. There are also stories of some encounters with a couple of headless people that welcomed the visitors walking by the lighthouse.

That's me at the door by the way.

The path to the lagoon. An adventure on its own.

Mangrove forest. Who would have thunk it exists in such a small island.

The Lagoon:

The Lagoon. Still filled with saltwater marine life and millions of other microorganisms. Not to worry, no alligators nor anacondas here.

That's not the White tower of Saruman, that's the Lighthouse as seen from the lagoon and surrounding it are the Ents.

All the ends of the Earth and the wonders of the sea as perceived from the lighthouse

The lagoon: now as seen from the lighthouse!

The beach. Also from the lighthouse

Corals on the island: as high as the trees. Proof that this island was submerged a while back. They now look like Sand king mounds from the "Outer Limits"

Beach  =  Vacation

= Fun

= Huts

= Fishing boats

= Sunsets

Here's a reminder though: hundreds of these little guys have scattered on the beach..

Mac -  with it's macaroni shell on it's back. He braves the Red Dead Seaweed on a boat. That's how it rolls.

Peanut - prefers the name wall-nut. Seen here scouting the perimeter. Tough as they can get.

Connie - The fastest among the shelled warriors. Must be the aerodynamic armor. be careful where you land your feet.
